Gifted Seminar 7th and 8th grade

Class Description: Gifted Seminar is a year-long elective that is available to students who have been identified as gifted or twice-exceptional.  The class is based in the autonomous learner model of gifted education.  An autonomous learner is “one who solves problems or develops new ideas through a combination of divergent and convergent thinking and functions with minimal external guidance in selected areas of endeavor” (Betts & Knapp, 1981).

We will conduct some group activities throughout the year.  The class is predominantly project based and students will typically have the choice to work independently or in a self-chosen group.

Classroom donations: Our classroom is always in need of tissues, hand sanitizer, paper towels, printer paper, and disinfectant wipes. Any donations of these items are greatly appreciated.
