Welcome to Eagle Ridge Middle School Athletics, home of the Eagles.
The athletics program at ERMS is separated into three seasons. The fall season has two sports. Football is available for 8th graders only, and volleyball is available for 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls.
Our head football coach is Chris Charley. He is assisted by Ben Martin.
We have four (4) new volleyball coaches this fall. Kaitlyn Tavella is the 8th grade coach, while our 7th grade coaches are Michelle Sanchez and Elvia Brizuela. The ERMS 6th grade Metro coach is Angelique Shires.
Basketball and wrestling are available during the winter sports season. Teams are available for boys and girls in basketball in 7th and 8th grades and 7th and 8th graders can also join our wrestling team.
Winter sports tryouts (basketball) and practices sessions for wrestling are slated to begin on November 1st. 7th and 8th grade boys will tryout for their respective teams immediately after school until 5:30 pm and the girls will follow from 5:30-7:30 pm. Tryouts will last three days starting on November 1st. The first game of the season is scheduled for November 15th against Mountain View.
The girls basketball coaches are: Amber Battle (8th Grade, and Emily Conway (7th)
The boys basketball coaches are: Walter Salata (8th grade) and Chris Charley (7th).
Wrestling is divided into two teams. Students with a zip code of 87124 will practice starting on November 1st at 4:45 at RRHS in the wrestling room and those with an 87144 zip code will practice at Rio Rancho Middle School from 6-7:30 pm starting on that same date. The wrestlers open their season at Taos on Saturday, November 12th.
The ERMS wrestling coach is Lynn Siverts.
Spring time presents opportunities in track and field for 7th and 8th grade girls and boys and 6th, 7th and 8th graders can participate in softball and baseball.
Baseball tryouts will start on February 6th and run for three (3) days through February 8th. Tryouts will start at 3:30 on that Monday. Mitlon Carrasco will serve as head coach and he will be assisted by Zack Rael.

Our softball and baseball teams will compete against many of the following schools: Mountain View, Lincoln, Rio Rancho Middle School, Albuquerque Academy, Belen, SFIS, Los Lunas, Los Alamitos (Grants), and Bernalillo.
Softball will also start their workouts on February 6th at 3:30 pm Jennifer Weiss will serve as head coach and she will be assisted by Zack Rael. Softball schedule will be posted in the near future.
TRACK & FIELD
Track and Field has yet to determine a starting date for their spring workouts. The track schedule is nearly complete and will eb posted soon.
To participate in any of our nine (9) sports, a valid physical examination is required and must be dated after April 1, 2016 to be eligible during the 2016-2017 school year. The doctor's exam must be accompanied by proof of medical insurance coverage.
The four (4) district middle schools charge admission at all football, volleyball, wrestling and basketball events. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students. There is no charge for pre-schoolers.
Phil Schroer is the school's Athletics Coordinator. His many duties include scheduling of all events, supervision of all home events, transportation, ordering uniforms and equipment and the hiring and evaluation of coaches.
